Du Quoin Halloween Parade Thursday

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Beta Sigma Phi sororities of Du Quoin will sponsor the annual Halloween parade on Thursday, October 30 at 6 p.m.

Beta Sigma Phi workers will need to report to the Banterra Bank parking lot at 5:15 p.m. with the line up at Banterra Bank to be in place by 5:30 p.m. Judging of the floats will take place at that time. The parade will leave the area and travel east on Main Street, then turn north on Washington Street.

Costume categories include: most original, best movie or TV character, best group of three or more, best Halloween character, prettiest, scariest, babies under 12 months and best couple 12 and under.

Prizes for costumes this year will be $8 for first and $5 for second. Floats will get $30 for first and $20 for second.

Costume judging will once again take place during the parade route at Du Quoin State Bank. Du Quoin ESDA will work on lighting for this area.

Xi Eta Gamma is in charges of signs and banners; Xi Alpha Xi and Xi Kappa Theta is in charge of judging. Beta Pi is in charge of contacts and thank yous. Preceptor Alpha Eta is in charge of the line-up. Xi Iota Epsilon is in charge of the poster contest. Illinois Alpha Tau Masters is in charge of the ribbons.

Chapter presidents will carry the banner at the beginning of the parade.

Sororities have again donated to the First Baptist Church's Trunk or Treat event. That event will take place after the parade.
