Chester City Council approves O'Fallon company for work at Cohen Field
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ At Monday night's meeting the Chester City Council approved the OSLAD?Grant Committee to purchase infield playing surface dirt for the women's softball diamonds at?Cohen Complex. The council waived the bidding procedure and approved to pay Florissant Sod Company of O'Fallon, MO. $25,000.60. The work is scheduled to start immediately.
The council then approved $700,000 in property tax to be levied in 2008 payable in 2009. They then set a date of December 1, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. for a Truth-in-Taxation hearing to be held at city hall.
In other business:
A donation to the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Tree of Remembrance was approved in the amount of $200.
An ordinance for annexation of the Minh and Gina Scott property located at 36 East State Street was approved.
An ordinance regarding a request of Richard and Jane Mueller to rezone their property from industrial to commercial was approved.
The council approved to ratify the action of the mayor and Natural Gas Committee in purchasing additional natural gas on the futures market.
Lastly, discussion on early payment of Illinois Municipal League Risk Management Association contribution payment for calendar year 2009 was tabled.
