Heather Chadwick Gunn assisted renowned animal expert Jack Hanna as they showcased approximately 36 animals in an hour long segment. Heather was the first assistant to appear on stage with a leashed Serval. The Serval is a small, spotted wild cat roughly the size of a Lynx that inhabits the savannahs of Africa. Some say it looks like a small Cheetah. This wild cat has been around for thousands of years; images of the Serval can be found painted on the side of Egyptian tombs. Now the Serval's primary habitat focuses south of equatorial Africa.

Heather is involved in an intense animal training program at the Moor Park College in Moor Park, California, which is a little north of Los Angeles. She is majoring in Exotic Animal Training and Management while minoring in Wildlife Conservation. She plans on graduating in May of 2009.

Heather's mother, Jo Anne Chadwick said, "She has worked hard at it. She has determination."

She graduated with the Steeleville High School Class of 1997 and has always seemed to have an acute interest in wildlife. She lived in Chicago for awhile where she was a volunteer at the John G. Shedd Aquarium. She currently lives in California. Heather has a hectic 7-day a week schedule at her institution. Along with classes, lectures, and studying, she also must care for the animals at Moor Park. This involves feeding, cleaning, and general compassionate interaction with the animals. This is her second and last year in the program. She is also a member of the California Wildlife Center and a volunteer at the Marine Mammal Rescue Animal Hospital. On top of everything, she assists her husband, Nicholas Gunn, run Gemini Sun Records, Inc., an indie record label out of Malibu, CA.
