Obituary for JoAnn R. Bowerman
STEELEVILLE - JoAnn R. Bowerman, 80, of Steeleville, passed away at 9:25 PM, Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at the Memorial Hospital in Chester.
JoAnn was born on February 18, 1936 in Murphysboro, the daughter of Leslie and Flossie (White) Reiman.
She married Leland L. Bowerman on December 27, 1952 in Percy and they shared 63 years of marriage together before he preceded her in death on September 8, 2016.
JoAnn retired from the Menard Correctional Center in Chester. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Willisville, and the Red Hatters, and the St. Joseph Altar Sodality.
JoAnn is survived by her son; Rick (Mary Ann) Bowerman of Campbell Hill; two grandchildren - Chad Bowerman, and Carissa (Richie) Boyd; four great-grandchildren - Jordan, and Kyler Bowerman, Kay Lynn Brock, and Carsyn Boyd.
JoAnn is also survived by a special cousin; Barbara Jaimet of Willisville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son - David Lee Bowerman; one great-grandchild - Ashton, one infant brother, and one infant sister and special cousin Danny Jaimet.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Willisville, with Father Larry Lemay officiating.
Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Murphysboro. Visitation will be held on Friday evening at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville, where friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and then on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Three Springs Recreation Activity.
