Lady Indians Swept by Frankfort
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ A tall and very talented group of Lady Redbirds from <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1220494521_0">West Frankfort</span> made
things difficult for <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1220494521_1">Du Quoin High School</span>¹s young volleyball squad Tuesday
night.
Frankfort posted 25-12 and 25-21wins in the seasons debut for each
squad, played at <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1220494521_2">Du Quoin Middle School</span>.
The Lady Warriors will play home matches in the DMS Gym this fall as
roof renovation work continues at Anders Memorial Gymnasium.
Against West Frankfort, Du Quoin was led in scoring by junior Jordyn
Reel¹s six points. She was 8-for-8 serving.
Kasi Camden (two kills) topped play at the net. Freshman Megi Jones and
Reel each recorded two assists.
Michaela Brown, the second frosh varsity starter for DHS, ended with two
serving aces. Keawna Anders, Nastia <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1220494521_3">Campanella</span> and Stacy Davis all scored
once.
Brown added three points.
Du Quoin (1-0) won the <span style="border-bottom: 1px dashed rgb(0, 102, 204); cursor: pointer;" class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1220494521_4">junior varsity</span> match (25-8, 29-27) while West
Frankfort prevailed in freshman play.
For the Lady Indian jayvees, Campanella (eight) and Anders (six) were
top scorers.
Each had four aces. Anders recorded six kills with Katie Morgan and
Ashley Ward each contributing four assists.
Davis made three digs.
The Lady Indians play Wesclin (4:30) and Mehville from <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1220494521_5">St. Louis</span> at 7:30
Wednesday to start the Marissa-Coulterville Invitational Tournament.
