Lee's Sports Splits at Fastpitch Nationals
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Lee's Sports Falcons of Radom split two games Thursday as the North American Fastpitch Association (NAFA) A-Major World Series began in Mankato, Minn.
The next game for the local squad will be an elimination round contest at 11:45 a.m. Saturday.
The opponent will be determined later.
In a 3-2 win over tourney co-host Junkers Bar and Grill of North Mankato, Mn., Nathan Hunter knocked in the go-ahead run with a third inning single.
Mason Woodside-who had two hits-singled home a key insurance run in the sixth as Lee's Sports pulled ahead 3-1.
Woodside, Hunter and Kasban all enjoyed two-hit efforts.
Pitcher Mark Radake scattered six hits and fanned six to gain the victory.
Early Thursday evening, Lee's was limited to just four hits in an 8-0 loss against Cleon's Auto of Tacoma, Wa. and legendary pitcher LeRoy Jolstad.
Kasban, Jay McCrary, Eric Saunders and Hunter contributed safeties.
Another Southern Illinois-based team, PK Broward, won its NAFA opener Thursday in convincing fashion 8-1 over Scarlett's of Sioux Falls, S.D.
Broward ripped Scarlett's Tap of Sioux Falls, S.D. 9-1 in six innings and played Wanderoos of Amery, Wi. late Thursday night.
Also, here are the pairings for the Southern Illinois Fastpitch League (SIFL) End-of-Season Tournament. Play is held Aug. 23-24 at the Elkville Village Park.
