Elkville Wins SIFL Tournament
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Regular season champion Elkville Fastpitch roared out of the losers bracket Sunday afternoon, winning the Southern Illinois Fastpitch League (SIFL) End-of-Season Tournament.
Elkville, which lost 3-1 against Scheller DirtBags to start the event, stayed alive with an 11-8 win over Burroughs Farms/Little Muddy late Saturday. Bryant Hale was the winning pitcher.
Aaron Hunter homered and Shawn Hunter blasted a grand slam.
Sunday, Elkville turned the tables and eliminated Scheller by an 8-6 score.
A. Hunter and Bryar Funk blasted home runs.
Shawn Hunter added a pair of hits and Les Wood took the pitching win.
S. Hunter, Chad Reams and Nathan Hunter then enjoyed two-hit efforts in the championship round's first game as Elkville bested Alstat Firewood & Lumber 3-1.
Wood was the winning hurler, out-dueling Barry Dalmasso.
In the winner-take-all final game, A. Hunter's two-run homer staked Elkville to an early lead.
Funk's RBI single in the third plated the first Elkville taly.
Tim Herring went 3-for-3 at the plate with Barry Maynor adding two hits.
Hale was the winning pitcher.
