PCHS Golf Teams Solid at Herrin
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ The boys and girls golf teams from Pinckneyville Community High School put together solid efforts in Monday's matches at Herrin.
Medalist Katherine Bray shot 44 with teammates Morgan Heisner (45) and Leah Eisenhauer (46) close behind during a 190- 289 win over the host Lady Tigers.
Kelsey Cicardi (55) also scored for PCHS.
"We had three solid scores at Herrin and everyone is improving," Pinckneyville coach Dennis Kania said. "Everyone is still learning the game."
The Lady Panthers compete Wednesday at Okawville. The match also includes Breese Central.
In boys play, Pinckneyville (3-1) suffered its first loss Monday, finishing second in a three-team battle with Benton (146) and Herrin (204).
Pinckneyville ended at 161 with Joey McDaniel's 38 leading the way. Corbin Gauch and Preston Chapman each carded 40's with Justin Jenkel and Matt Gill next at 43.
"Benton is solid and probably the best team in all of Southern Illinois," Kania said. "Losing to them gives us a pretty good idea of where we need to be come tournament time."
