Du Quoin Girl Scout achieves group's highest honor
Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois has awarded Allison K. Brantley of Du Quoin its highest honor. Brantley, a 2020 graduate of Du Quoin High School, has earned the Gold Award for making improvements to the Perry County Humane Society.
"I am an animal lover. I wanted to help out the Perry County Humane Society and do something to help their animals get adopted," said Allison.
Allison made additions to the cat room, and put in new ceiling fans in the dog kennel area to help keep the animals cool during the hot summer days. She also made enhancements to the office to assist those working at the humane society.
Speaking about her Gold Award project, Allison said it also drove home the importance of family.
