Super Splash Park hit with serious damage

Pool is closed until this weekend for clean-up

Police are investigating an incident of major vandalism that took place last weekend at Carbondale's Super Splash Park.

Police say they responded Saturday morning to the aquatic center on South Lewis Lane for a report of criminal trespass and criminal damage to property. Officers learned that overnight, suspects damaged a significant amount of property at the facility that affected overall operations of the park due to safety concerns.

Among the features damages were the lazy river and the leisure pool. Park staff had to drain both in order to clean broken glass.

After significant clean up and safety inspections, the Super Splash Park is slated to reopen to the public on Saturday, Aug. 17. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Carbondale Police Department..

The investigation into the incident is active and ongoing.
