We are back. As always with the first article of the year, I want to thank the sponsors of this column. While we only have five to start, by next week we should have more. In these extremely tough economic times, I appreciate the fact that they decided to throw their support behind this column. I try to do business with as many of these merchants as possible and I want to encourage you to do the same.

There are two other big changes coming to this column. First, Paul Lambert will take over writing this column next week. If people remember while we normally run every other week, for the next month we will run every week to catch up on what has happened during the fall months. Secondly, we welcome the Steeleville Ledger to the College Report family. The column will also run in their paper and the sponsors will appear in both papers with no increase in advertising fees.

Finally, a brief explanation of this column. We will cover graduates of Chester, Sparta, Steeleville, Red Bud and Trico High Schools. Trico is added because of the Steeleville Ledger. We cover those athletes that formerly competed for those particular high schools and are now competing in college. If the athlete is from Randolph County or one of the towns that feed into Trico High School and chose to attend a different school, they are eligible to be covered by this column as well. The athlete must be an intercollegiate athlete, meaning their chose school competes with other schools.

If you want to make sure your son/daughter is on my list, please contact me. I can be reached by e-mail (Dan62801@aol.com). I will need the name of the athlete, the former high school, the college/uni-versity they are attending and of course, the sport they are playing. Please make sure that all spellings are correct and make sure to put "Randolph County Herald Tribune" in the subject line of the e-mail. ...

To say that Chester grad Juli Koenegstein had a fantastic September would be a huge understatement. Koenegstein recorded three top 10 finishes. After taking second as an unattached runner in the Stegemoller Classic held in Evansville, Indiana, she competed at the Eastern Illinois University hosted Panther Cross Country Invitational and Southern Illinois University-Carbondale hosted Saluki Invite.

At Stegemoller Classic, she finished the 4,000-meter race in 14 minutes, 49 seconds. She was second overall in that race. She followed that performance with an eighth place finish in the EIU Panther Invitational. In that 5,000-meter race, she took eighth as she crossed the finish line in 19:16. Two weeks later, she competed in the Saluki Invitational and took fifth with an 18:46.

While she ran unattached in Evansville and team scores were not available for the Saluki Invitational, Koenegstein helped SEMO take fourth in the EIU Panther Cross Country Invitational. SIUC won the Panther Invitational team title. The Lady Salukis reduced their team total to eight points...

Red Bud graduate Annie Grohmann, a Lindenwood University senior, has 144 kills and 77 blocks through the first 33 matches. At the recent Lindenwood University Tournament, the Lady Lions defeated Avila College, Madonna University and Robert Morris College-Springfield by 3-0 scores. They lost to Columbia College 3-1 in the final game of the tournament. Grohmann had her best game of the tournament against Robert Morris-Springfield. Grohmann finished the contest with eight kills. She also had three blocks and a .571 hitting percentage in the contest. Lindenwood is 28-5 overall. ...

I know there are more athletes, but we do not have their names. We have contacted the schools and hopefully the athletic directors as well the reading public will help add names to our list.

That is all for now, College Report fans! Adios.
