Chester businessman robbed at knifepoint

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Chester Police were called to Buy and Save, a resale stored located near the Koeneman Agency building on State Street in Chester in reference to an Armed Robbery in progress on Monday, August 4.

Upon arrival police discovered that the masked assailant had already fled the scene on foot. Law enforcement officers from the surrounding areas including the Randolph County Sheriff's Department and the Steeleville Police Department responded to assist in the search. A canine officer from the Coulterville Police Department also responded to assist in the search.

Police were unable to locate the suspect. The victim, Richard Gadberry of Chester, described a male 5'8 to 6'0 tall with a thin build. The perpetrator was allegedly wearing a white mask with a hood over his head. The subject was also reportedly wearing a dark color jacket and blue jeans. The weapon used in the robbery was a knife. Police are currently following up on leads and urge anyone with information to contact the Chester Police Department at 618-826-5454.
