Lee's Sports Fourth in ASA State

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Winning three of five games, Lee's Sports Falcons of Radom returned home from the Illinois Amateur Softball Association (ASA) Class A/Open Men's Fastpitch Tournament in fourth place.

After defeating Franny's Ole Irish Pub of Springfield 8-3 Friday night, the Radom-based squad fell 16-0 against defending state and national champion Guaranteed Air Freight of Vandalia to begin action Saturday.

Mark Radake and Jay McCrary had the lone hits for Radom, who trailed 9-0 after the first two innings.

Radake-who finished the weekend with a 3-0 record-struck out 11 and gave just three hits as Lee's blanked Rumours Fastpitch of Alton 8-0 Saturday afternoon.

Lee's scored two unearned runs in the first inning and never looked back as Ryan Colle, Haven Hicks and Clay McDonnough all enjoyed two-hit efforts.

Ryan Colle, Lyle Winter and McDonnough all doubled with Travis Klingler hitting safely.

Late Saturday night, Lee's eeked out a 6-5 win to eliminate Franny's as Radake threw seven strong innings.

Lee's led all the way and stretched its margin to 4-0 after three innings folllowing Colle's RBI triple and a run-scoring double by Winter.

The lead expanded to 6-3 in fifth as McDonnough drew a bases loaded walk.

Radake scattered nine hits and struck out three.

Ricky Kasban, Eric Saunders, Winter and McDonnough enjoyed two-hit games. Chris Gebhardt doubled.

In Sunday afternoon's trophy round, eventual state champion Pete's Blues of Swansea ousted Lee's Sports 4-3 in eight innings.

In the fifth, Lee's scored three times to pull ahead.

McDonnough's double tied the game at 1-1 before Radake smacked a two-run, pinch hit single.

Hicks had two of Radom's four hits.

Kiselewski was saddled with the pitching loss, giving eight hits.

McDonnough (C) and Saunders (OF) were both named to the ASA's All-State team.

Pete's Blues-which won four games in a nine-hour stretch Sunday-defeated Cerro Gordo Broncos twice to win the championship.

Local players Daniel Alstat (Elkville) and Steve Linton (Energy) were two of Pete's selections on the all-state list.
