Two New Offices Soon to be in Pinckneyville

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Right along with Pinckneyville's recent commercial development, the City Council has approved a purchase to expand the offices of the city.

For the amount of $34,500, the City entered an agreement with Du Quoin State Bank to purchase the building previously owned Hancock Securities. The building, located across from City Hall, will house two major activities of the City: 'Economic Development' and 'Building and Zoning'.

These activities were previously cramped into City Hall with files for them stored away in City Hall, the Courthouse and the City Attorney's Office. Movement of these files will allow for more room in City Hall and a better organization for the files that will be moved.

The completion date for the offices is not set, as the purchasing and planning is still in the starting stages.

Mayor Holder mentioned that should the building be used for what he hopes it to be used for, economic development and building and zoning, that a few positions will need to be made to manage the files and organization of the new offices.

The City Council has not approved any plans for certain for the building yet, but given the approval of the purchase, it is clear the Council plans to use it for something.

The building is located at 111 S. Walnut.
