Mary Ann Snider of DeSoto

Mary Ann Snider, 86, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Manor Court of Carbondale.

Mary Ann was born Feb. 7, 1938, in Hurst to Frank and Mildred (Spytek) Olkoski. Mary married George Snider on April 21, 1961, in Carbondale.

Mary Ann worked as a registered nurse at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale until her retirement after 45 years of service. She enjoyed being outside in her garden, cooking, sewing, volunteering, slot machines at casinos and collecting by going to flea markets.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 63 years, George Snider; daughter Sharli Snider (Jeff Toberman) of DeSoto; son Warren (Fredica) Snider of Carterville; and sisters Jeanie (Carol) Lingle of Dongola, Karen Hemphill of Hurst and Sharon (Ronald) Brooks of Hammond, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, Frank Olkoski, Jr., Judith Weyburg and Rudy Olkoski.

A memorial service for Mary Ann will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with Pastor Tom Stearns officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made in Mary Ann’s name to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the Jackson County Humane Society.
