Mary Anderson

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mary E. Anderson, 93, of Belleville, formerly of Vergennes, passed away at 9:35 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville.

Mary was an LPN. She had worked at Holden Hospital and Jackson County Nursing Home. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Vergennes and United Methodist Women.

She was born May 12, 1914, at Berry, Ala., the daughter of Claude and Martha (Parris) Whitley.

She married Auris M. Anderson, on May 12, 1934, in Pinckneyville, and he preceded her in death on July 9, 1976.

She is survived by four sons, Robert A. Anderson and wife Ellen of Melbourne Beach, Fla., Richard D. Anderson and wife Barbara of Collinsville, Ill., Charles D. Anderson and wife Sharon of Vergennes, and James E. Anderson and wife Jo Ellen of Caseyville; one daughter, Meredith A. Holliday and husband Larry of St. Louis, Mo.; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. onSaturday, Feb. 16, at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Susan Burnett officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Old Du Quoin Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Memorials can be made to the Wesley United Methodist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
