Joel Barker

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Joel Don "JD" Barker, 82, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:50 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

JD had worked as a manager at Hicks Gas in Canton, Ill. He had also worked at Del Monte and Swift Company at Rochelle. He was of the Christian faith. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association.

He was born Oct. 10, 1925, at Dale, Ill., the son of Charles and Blanche Myrtle (Atteberry) Barker.

He married Irene Donoho on Aug. 31, 1946 at Rochelle, and she survives.

He is also survived by three sons, Larry Barker and wife Janet of Mendota, Perry Barker of Gallipolis, Ohio, and Jeff Barker and friend Kathy of Du Quoin; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.

Friends may call from noon until the time of service on Sunday at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Old Du Quoin Cemetery at Du Quoin.
