Fred Geistdorfer

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Fred H. Geistdorfer, 88, of Du Quoin, passed away at 9 p.m., Saturday, March 22, 2008, at the Fairview Nursing Center in Du Quoin.

Fred had worked as a driller for the coal mine and was a member of UMW of A. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He was born Oct. 1, 1919, at Hallidayboro, Ill., the son of Charles and Mollie E. (Walters) Geistdorfer.

He married Floy M. Ivester on Oct. 24, 1944, at Reno, Nev. and she passed away on March 5, 1991. He then married Maxine F. (Ivester) Pyle on Nov. 14, 1992, at Du Quoin, Ill., and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin; one son, David Geistdorfer of Boulder Creek, Calif.; special stepsons, Gary Pyle and his wife Jean and Kevin Pyle and his wife Janice; all of Du Quoin; and one sister, Earlene Abbott and her husband Lloyd, of Du Quoin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; and two sons, Richard Geistdorfer and Fred Geistdorfer.

Per Mr. Geistdorfer's request, cremation services were held.

There will be no public visitation or funeral.

Remains will be placed at the Hallidayboro Cemetery at Hallidayboro, Ill., at a later date.

Friends may make memorials to the Du Quoin Food Pantry and will be accepted at the funeral home.
