Sharon K. Smith

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Sharon Kay Smith, 69, of Royalton, passed away at 2:21 a.m., Friday, April 18, 2008 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Sharon was a homemaker. She was a member of the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church at Royalton.

She was born September 17, 1938 at Du Quoin, the daughter of James and Lucille (Waller) King.

She married John Edward Smith on September 15, 1955 at Du Quoin, and he preceded her in death on May 29, 1989.

She is survived by seven children, Larry Dean Smith and wife Tammy of Gillsville, GA., Gary Lee Smith of Gillsville, GA, Penny Loeh and husband Kenneth of Royalton, John D. Smith and wife Angie of Dacula, GA, Herbert Smith and wife Barbara of Du Quoin, Terri Roehm and husband William of Evansville, IN, and Richard Kent Smith of Gillsville, GA; two sisters, Brenda Gobtop of Sesser and Ramona Jury and husband Michael of Royalton; thirteen grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one sister, Shirley Brotherton.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Monday, April 21, 2008 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Bro. David Betts officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Old Du Quoin Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Memorials may be made to the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Royalton and will be accepted at the funeral home.
