Betty Bennett

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Betty Bennett, 80, Mt. Carmel, passed away September 15, 2008, at Meadowood Nursing Home in Grayville.

She was born December 8, 1927, in Pomona, the daughter of Frank and Ida (Baysden) Roberts.

She married Edward Bennett October 30, 1945, in Cairo. He survives.

Betty was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Mt. Carmel. She was a homemaker.

Suvivors include her husband; daughter, Melinda Batchelor and husband John of Mt. Carmel; son, Edward L. Bennett and wife Becky of Fort Wayne, Ind.; five grandchildren, Wade (Noga) Hudson, Jamie Hudson, Paige (Junior) Garcia, Chad (Sara) Bennett, and Andrew Bennett; one great-grandchild, Phillip Evans; brother, Jack (Peggy) Roberts of Pulaski.

Preceding her in death were her parents; daughter, Sandra Hudson; and sister, Maxine Robinson.

Services will be Thursday, September 18, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Underwood officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
