C. Glenn Davis

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ C. Glenn Davis, age 86, of Vergennes, passed away at 10:10 p.m. Monday, October 13, 2008, at Fairvew Acres Nursing Home in Du Quoin.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 16, 2008, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Vergennes with Rev. Susan Burnett officiating and burial at Parrish Cemetery in Vergennes. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Pettett Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to Parrish Cemetery in Vergennes.

Glenn was born on August 27, 1922, at Scottsboro, to Samuel Edward David and Delphia Ann (Smith) Davis.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. Davis married Dorothy Parrish on December 21, 1941 and she preceded him in death on December 24, 2001.

He had worked as a rural mail carrier and was a carpenter.

Glenn was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Vergennes. He was a life time member of the Jackson County D.A.V. Chapter # 69, and he was a mason. He was a former member of the Carpenter's Union.

Mr. Davis enjoyed reading his bible, woodworking, but he especially enjoyed his family and attending his grandchildren and great grandchildren's sporting events.

He is survived by one son and daughter in law Clifton Glenn Davis, Jr. and Pat Davis of Du Quoin, three grandchildren Kim Wheeler and her husband Wendell Wheeler of Carbondale, Tim Davis of Du Quoin, and Kris and Christie Ogolini of St. Louis, Mo.; four great grandchildren J. C., Connor, Macie, and Aubrey; one brother Loren Davis of Vergennes; and two sisters Hazel Lee Odum of Marion, and Dorothy McKinnies of Walkerton, Ind.

He was preceded in death by one daughter Delores Ogolini and his parents.
