</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Gary W. McMurray, 64, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:53 P.M., Sunday, October 26, 2008 at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.

Gary had worked as a coal miner for United Electric and Consol. He had also worked for Bart Transportation and Lanter Transportation. He was of the Protestant faith.

He was born August 14, 1944 at Du Quoin, IL, the son of Russell L. and Florence (Carson) McMurray.

He married Debra L. Hemmer on July 2, 1966 at Du Quoin and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, one son - Daniel McMurray and wife Nyla of Du Quoin, one daughter - Dana McMurray of Du Quoin, three grandchildren - Grace McMurray, Brycen McMurray, and Peyton Vaughn, all of Du Quoin, five sisters - Marilyn Purdy and husband Tom of Decatur, Vicki Doerr and husband Gordon of Vergennes, Peggy Poe and husband Jerry of Mulkeytown, Patti Dalton of Murphysboro, and Carol Stacey and husband Kevin of Du Quoin, one brother - Russell McMurray and wife Vicki of Christopher, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother - Mike McMurray.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Lon McPherson officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 P.M., Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Old Du Quoin Cemetery at Du Quoin.
