Lois Catherine Rigdon

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Lois Catherine Rigdon, age 90, of Pinckneyville, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2008, at 10:55 p.m. in Marshall Browning Hospital, Du Quoin.

Lois was born on February 13, 1918 in Pinckneyville, a daughter to Ernest H. and Lillie Jane (McDonnough) Geistdoerfer. At 13 years old at her father's insistence she moved to town so that she could attend 4 years of high school. On December 30, 1950, she married Lee V. Rigdon in Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, and he preceded her in death on November 17, 1997. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, and had served as the church treasurer and taught bible school for many years. Before she was married, she had worked as a supervisor at Pinckneyville Garment Factory, and then after marriage as a homemaker actively involved in 4-H with her daughters and chaperoning their various high school events. She was also active in the Community Club of 212 School, was an avid gardener, accomplished seamstress, excellent cook, hosted family gatherings at her house each holiday, and was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Survivors include two daughters: Shelley (Brad) Meacham of Pinckneyville, and Kristy (Larry, Jr.) Goodwin of Du Quoin, three grandchildren: Jarrod Lee (Elizabeth) Meacham, Ryan Lee (Traci) Goodwin, and Madison Shea Meacham, four great-grandchildren: McClellan, Cole, Cade, and Caleb.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister: Inez Fae Ferrero, a nephew: Gary Ferrero.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 31, at 10 a.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, on Thursday from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and on Friday at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Operation Christmas Child in care of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
