Helen J. Pierce
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Helen J. Pierce, 91, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2 a.m., Sunday, November 9, 2008 at the Fair Acres Nursing Home in Du Quoin.
Helen had worked as a clerk and bookkeeper at Bianco Drug Store for forty years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Du Quoin for over fifty years. She was a member of United Methodist Women, Ruth Jakle Circle, Church Women United and Crusaders Sunday School Class.
She was born June 28, 1917 at Sunfield, the daughter of Lester and Fleta M. (Terry) Morris.
She married Luther H. Pierce on March 24, 1940 at Sunfield, and he preceded her in death on December 27, 1980.
She is survived by two sisters - Pat Wilks of Du Quoin and Marge Schenk and husband Roger of Du Quoin, two sisters-in-law - Mary Lou Morris of Du Quoin and Phyllis Morris of Sun City Center, FL, one brother-in-law - Kenny Bird of Du Quoin and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers - Joe Morris and Gene Morris and two sisters - Frances Bird and Carol Marie Morris.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Mike Ebersohl officiating.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the First United Methodist Church in Du Quoin and will be accepted at the funeral home.
