William "Harry" Queen

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ William "Harry" Queen, age 81, of Metropolis, IL, formerly of Sesser, IL passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 2:59 p.m. in Metropolis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Metropolis, IL.

Harry was born on May 10, 1927 in Perry County, IL, a son to William Thomas and Nellie Mae (Morganthaler) Queen. He was a veteran of the United State Army serving in the Philippians during World War II. He married Lanetta Bell Strawbridge in Sesser, IL and she preceded him in death on February 18, 2005. In his lifetime, he had worked as a farmer, as well as for the Illinois Central Railroad, MCA in Pinckneyville, IL, and at the candy factory in Ashley, IL and he had loved tractors, especially Farmall.

Survivors include his son: Wayne (Kim) Queen of Metropolis, IL, daughter: Janet (Monty) Osborne of Beardstown, IL, two stepdaughters: Tina (Jerry) Miller of Sesser, IL, and Janet (Fred) Dent of Nason, IL, two sisters: Marjorie Keene of Pinckneyville, IL, and Pauline Hopkins of DuQuoin, IL, seven grandchildren: Mandi and Cory Queen of Metropolis, IL, Jennifer Gideon of Godfrey, IL, Monty Osborne of Springfield, IL, Lanetta Ing of Sesser, IL, Angela Dooley of Sesser, IL, and Valerie Talley of Woodlawn, IL, and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers: Donald Queen and Paul Queen, and two nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Tim Bauersachs officiating. Interment will be in Holts Prairie Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
