Betty L. Gabelman

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Betty L. Gabelman, 68, of Du Quoin, passed away at 10:35 a.m., Saturday, December 6, 2008 at her residence.

Betty had worked as a waitress for eighteen years at Emling Caf&#200; in Du Quoin. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Du Quoin.

She was born May 12, 1940 at Hickman, Ky., the daughter of Elmer Lionel and Opal (Aday) Davis.

She married Charles Gabelman in 1957 in Michigan and he preceded her in death in 1985.

She is survived by one daughter - Diana LaPointe of New Athens, two sons - Charles Harvey Gabelman of Mt. Vernon, and Gregory Gabelman of E. Cape Girardeau, three sisters - Anna Hess Davis of Du Quoin Jeannie, and Mary Lou, one brother - James, seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter - Romona Gabelman, two sons - Anthony Gabelman and Rory Gabelman, and one brother - Gary Davis.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 10, at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Ted Clark officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery at Tamaroa.

Friends may make memorials to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
