Mary Ann Getzie

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Mary Ann Getzie, 93, of Dowell, passed away at 2:38 p.m., Friday, January 2, 2009 at the Pinckneyville Healthcare in Pinckneyville.

Mary had worked as a administrative assistant at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin.

She was born March 9, 1915 at Congo, Ohio, the daughter of Steve and Minnie (Fredericks) Getzie.

She is survived by her brother- James Getzie and wife Deloris of Pinckneyville, three nephews- Martin Refka and wife Donna of Carmel, Ind., Steve Epplin and wife Kathy of Du Quoin and Gregory Epplin of Pinckneyville, three great nieces and a great nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters- Julia Refka and Emma Epplin, cousin- Albert Vaskie.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Fr. Bernardine Nganzi officiating.

Friends may call from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin. The Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the Sacred Heart Church or TIP Hospice Pinckneyville Division and will be accepted at the funeral home
