</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[James R. Derickson, 70, of Chester, Illinois, died January 6, 2009 at Red Bud Regional Hospital, Red Bud, Illinois.

The son of Cardell and Rose (nee Hauner) Derickson, he was born on August 20, 1938 in Murphysboro, Illinois.

He was never married.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Chester and Knight of Columbus #3790, Chester.

Survivors include: two brothers-Frank (Betty) Derickson of Chester, IL, Donald (Barbara) Derickson of Chester, IL; nieces & nephews; Vicki (Tom) Search of Chester, IL, Brenda (Gregory) Gallagher of Atlanta, GA, David (Barb) Derickson of Perryville, MO, Jeffrey Derickson of Chester, IL, and Kelly (Christopher) Bednar of Ypsilanti, MI; numerous great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Funeral Mass was held Saturday, January 10, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Chester, Illinois, with Father Gene Wojcik officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Chester.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic School or for Masses.
