</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Violet Turner Cobb, 71, of Jasper, AL, formerly of Chester, IL, died January 7, 2009 at Princeton Hospital, Birmingham, AL.

The daughter of Raymond and Gladys (Canady) Fortner, she was born April 3, 1937 in Farmington, MO.

On February 24, 1954, she married David L. Turner and he preceded her in death in 2001. Then on March 23, 2003, she married Merle Cobb in Plant City, FL.

Violet was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Merle Cobb, of Jasper, AL; mother, Gladys Fortner of Chester, IL; one daughter, Cynthia Rinehart of Cape Girardeau, MO; three grandchildren-Billie Rinehart, Beverly Baker, and Jeff Baker. She was preceded in death by her father; first husband; one daughter, Connie Masters; and one brother, Jerry Fortner.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 12, 2009 at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, IL with Rev. Mike Fogerson officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Chester.
