</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Carole S. Colvis, 65, of Walsh, IL, died January 5, 2009, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.
The daughter of Fred and Alta (Stewart) Niehouse, she was born June 21, 1943 in Chester, IL.
On September 5, 1959, she married James M. Colvis in DuQuoin, IL.
Carole was a dental assistant. She was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church in Walsh, IL. She belonged to the Republican Party, was a long-time Precinct Committeeman at Walsh, a former treasurer of the Republican Central Committee, a member of the Jackson, MO Trail Riders, and a former member of the Perryville, MO Saddle Club. Carole loved horses, swimming, and camping with family and the grandchildren. She also loved the beach. She was a very practical person, because for Mother's Day she would prefer a box of popsicles instead of store bought flowers.
Survivors include her husband of Walsh, IL; three children-Michael A. Colvis of Lenzburg, IL, Linda Rae & Craig Weber of New Athens, IL, and Byron B. Colvis of Pawleys Island, SC; two sisters-Vera Wittenbrink of Carbondale, IL and Eileen Hasemeyer & friend Ernie Schuchert of Chester, IL; one sister-in-law, Janet & Byron Hill of Naperville, IL; four grandchildren-Codi Rae Weber and friend Tim Deffenbaugh of Fayetteville, IL, Kelsey Lynn Weber and Morgan Blair Weber of New Athens, IL, and Lacy Rae Colvis of Pawleys Island, SC. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Paul Niehouse; one sister, Arlene Aspley; one grandson, Blake Alan Weber; three brothers-in-law: Vernon "Buzz" Wittenbrink, Berdel Hasemeyer, and "Bud" Aspley.
A Funeral Mass was held Friday, January 9, 2009 at 10 a.m. at St. Pius Catholic Church, Walsh, IL with Rev. John J. Joyce officiating. Burial was in the Preston Cemetery in Preston, IL.
Memorials may be made to the Preston Cemetery Association or for Masses.
The Welge-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, IL was in charge of the arrangements.
