</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Daniel Wayne Thorne, 67, of Chester, IL, died January 22, 2009 at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

The son of Wayne and Mae Louise (Hause) Thorne, he was born December 31, 1941, in Lansing, MI.

On March 28, 1992 he married Carol Mehrer in Chester.

Dan was the Marketing Director and raw material purchasing agent at Gilster Mary Lee Corp. He was a long standing former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Chester where he contributed his time and talents serving as an elder, deacon, Sunday School teacher, and choir member and now is a current member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chester and the St. Mary's Choir. He also taught in the Adult Literacy Program.

Survivors include his wife of Chester, IL; two daughters & sons-in-law: Heidi & Luke Sparks of Champagne, IL, and Joyce & Brian Basinger of Goldfield, IA; one step-son, Greg Temple of Pasadena, TX; one step-daughter, Ronda & Andy Thiem of St. Louis, MO; one brother & sister-in-law, William & Lula Thorne of Houston, TX; one sister, Kathy Lowry of Chester, IL; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Rev. Judith Thorne.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, IL with Rev. Gene Wojcik officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Chester.
