Emery Ernest Messer

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Emery Ernest Messer, 58 of Du Quoin, passed away at 8:02 P.M., Thursday, February 5, 2009 at the Memorial Hospital in Chester.

Emery was a production line manager at Gilster-Mary Lee in Steeleville for the past seven years. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a US Army veteran of the Viet Nam War.

He was born March 16, 1950 at Makanda, IL the son of Emery Allen and Allietta (Clark) Messer.

Emery married Doris J. Bird on November 3, 1972 at Du Quoin, IL and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, two sons- Emery Grant Messer and wife Leanne of Du Quoin and Travis Messer and fianc&#200; Nicole Prather of Du Quoin, grandson- Jeremy Nathaniel Messer of Du Quoin, mother-in-law- Rose Cook of Du Quoin, three sisters- Vicky Hall of Benton, Georgia Tricer of Murphysboro and Gail Keebler, two brothers- Allen Messer of Du Quoin and Terry Messer of Hurst, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers- Hal Burton Messer and Ricky Dean Messer and sister- Faye Johnson.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Everett L. Freeman officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 P. M. Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Murdale Gardens of Memory at Murphysboro.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Murphysboro American Legion, VFW and DAV.
