Myrtle L. Bruns

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Myrtle L. Bruns, 94, of Christopher, passed away February 11, 2009, at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin.

She was born February 27, 1914, in Carbon Hill, Ala., to John S. Jones and Lou (Knight) Jones. She married Joseph P. Bruns.

She was the owner and operator with her husband of the Kitchen Fresh Bakery in Christopher for 15 years. She was also a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church in Christopher and the St. Andrews Alter society.

Survivors include her children: Donna & Frank Todd-Christopher, Jerry Bruns-St.Louis Mo., Tom & Susanne Bruns-Du Quoin, Gregory Bruns-Granite City; 10 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceeded in death by her husband in 1972; her parents; daughter, Patricia Siler; 7 sisters; and 1 brother.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

The funeral will be held Saturday February 14, 2009 at 11 a.m. at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Christopher with Father Steve Poole officiating.

Interment will be at St. Andrews Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Friday at the Gilbert Funeral Home Christopher.

Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher is in charge of arrangements.
