Lloyd O. Bratten

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Lloyd O. Bratten, 83, Goreville, passed away March 7 at 12:30 a.m. at his home.

Lloyd was born November 12, 1925 in Marion, Ill., to Orvil Olen Bratten and Viola Geil. He later married Dorthella Burroths, who preceded him in death on October 20, 2004.

Lloyd formerly worked as a night supervisor at Turco Manufacturing in Du Quoin. He was also a retired coal miner and a WWII submarine veteran. He was the owner of Brattens Ornamental Iron in Marion. He was a member of the VFW post 513 in Du Quoin. Lloyd was an avid fisherman who enjoyed traveling in his motor home and boating.

Survivors include his son, Bruce Bratten and daughter-in-law Marsha, Du Quoin; son, Larry Bratten and daughter-in-law Edy, Du Quoin; Daughter Carlene B. Miller and son-in-law Paul Mills, Goreville; son Steven Bratten and daughter-in-law Melody, Du Quoin; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and brother Carl Bratten, Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and sister, Leola Bratten.

Graveside services will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion.

Visitation is Wednesday, March 11, at 11 a.m. at Walker Funeral Home in Carbondale.
