Peter C. Fiantaco
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Peter C. Fiantaco, 87, of Du Quoin, passed away at 8 a.m., Monday, March 23, 2009 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Pete had been owner of Southern Builders Contractors and was a retired coal miner for Consolidation Coal Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Du Quoin American Legion, Elks, and UMW of A.
He was born February 18, 1922 at Du Quoin, the son of Charles and Michelina (Marano) Fiantaco.
He married Georgia Eaton on July 3, 1964 at West Frankfort, and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, one daughter - Ellen Lay and husband Bob of Marion, one granddaughter - Donna Lay of Marion, and one great grandson - Evan Lay of Marion.
He was preceded in death by parents and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, March 27, 2009 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Michael Ebersohl officiating.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin American Legion and V.F.W.
Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to Masses or Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
