Lulu P. Koerner

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Lulu P. Koerner, 90, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2:08 a.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at the Fair Acres Nursing Home in Du Quoin.

Lulu had worked at Blue Bell Packing in the office and at Turco Manufacturing as a personal secretary. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin. She enjoyed joining other Catholic ladies in quilting at Haffner Hall. Lulu was a Du Quoin High School Graduate. She had lived in Herrin from 1941 until 1942 and in Du Quoin from 1943 until the present.

She was born June 21, 1918 at Du Quoin, the daughter of Ira N. and Mary Katherine (Rick) Parker.

She married Charles "Chatty" Koerner on November 9, 1940 at Du Quoin and he preceded her in death on January 29, 1996.

She is survived by one son - Chuck Koerner and wife Marlene of Herrin, one daughter - Jean Heape of Du Quoin, four grandchildren - Katie Clover of Herrin, Chris Koerner and wife Tricia of Loda, Ill., Amy Heape of New York, N.Y., and Scott Heape and wife Melissa of Bloomington, Ill., two great granddaughters - Cayla Koerner and Cloey Koerner, both of Loda, Ill., one great grandson - Christopher Clover of Herrin, one brother - Harold Parker of Du Quoin, and one nephew - Lou Parker and wife Sandy of Simpson, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters - Louise Parker and Elizabeth Parker and one nephew - Donn Parker.

Private family funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 10, 2009 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Msgr. Ken Schaefer officiating.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the Marshall Browning Hospital Tree of Life and will be accepted at the funeral home.
