William S. "Bill" Welton, 83

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[William S. "Bill" Welton, 83, of Chester, IL, died April 20, 2009 at Memorial Hospital, Chester, IL.

The son of Paul and Kathleen (Foley) Welton, he was born November 10, 1925 in Arthur, West Virginia.

On October 4, 1958, he married Hope Brown in St. Louis, MO, and she preceded him in death on April 20, 2007.

Bill served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. After retiring from the Army, he went to work as a Security Therapy Aid in Chester Mental Health for 10 years. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #3553, the American Legion Post #487, Chester Eagles Club Aerie #3252, and was a AFSCME Retiree.

Survivors include one son, Ronald Welton of Steeleville, IL; two grandchildren-Luke Welton & Shayla Welton; one brother, Donald Welton of Baltimore, MD; and one sister, Joan Tiso of Baltimore, MD. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three sisters-Pat, Chris, and Joy; and two brothers-Dale & Bob.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, IL with Rev. Vance Vyers officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Chester.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the First Presbyterian Church.
