Orville Wayne Bird

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Orville Wayne Bird, 74, of Granite City, passed away April 27, 2009, at 9 a.m. in Granite City.

Orville was born January 27, 1935, in Pinckneyville to Orville Bird and Verna Williamson.

He married Mary Lou Salter Bird on December 31, 1977, in San Antonio, Texas.

He is survived by his wife; daughters, Pamala Allen of Caseyville, Tracie (Kevin) Campbell of Spring Hill, Kan.; sons, Michael (Lisa) Bird of Collinsville, Douglas (Laura) Bird of Collinsville, Michael (Angie) Allen of Granite City, Randy (Sheila) Allen of Caseyville, Albert Allen of Granite City; sister, Betty (Ron) Woodruff of Normal; brother, Ron (Lola) Bird of Gamiel, Ark.; 17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, David Bradley Bird.

Orville was a member of the Army and worked as a diesel mechanic at Tom and Sons Truck Repair in St. Louis, Mo., for seven years.

The funeral will be held Saturday, May 9, at 11 a.m. at Thomas Saksa Funeral Home in Granite City with Pastor Warren Huffines officiating.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 9, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Thomas Saksa Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheral Church in Granite City.
