Eugene L. Schneider

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Eugene L. Schneider, 94, of Du Quoin, passed away at 12:25 P.M., Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL

Eugene had been a bookkeeper at Du Quoin Packing Co. for 42 years. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin and a member of the Du Quoin American Legion for 55 years. He was a US Army veteran of W.W. II.

He was born September 1, 1914 at Vergennes, IL, the son of George and Teresa (Koerber) Schneider.

He married Wilda L. Fisher on October 19, 1940 at Du Quoin, IL, and she preceded him in death on July 27, 2004.

He is survived by a daughter- Jane Keene and husband Russ of Collinsville, grandson- Brad Keene and wife Jennifer of Collinsville, granddaughter- Kris McLennan and husband Sean of Libertyville, five great grandchildren- Olivia, Tyson and Macey Keene, and Sarah and Jessica McLennan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister- Lucille Jackson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, May 7, 2009 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Fr. Bernardine Nganzi officiating.

Friends may call from 9 A.M. until time of service at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin on Thursday.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to Masses or the Du Quoin Gold Plate Program and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin American Legion and VFW.
