Lois Irene Farthing

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Lois Irene Farthing, age 90, of Mattoon, IL, formerly of Tamaroa, IL, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 in Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon, IL.

Lois was born on August 8, 1918 in Sunfield, IL, a daughter to Curtis and Minnie (Morris) Gant. On June 13, 1934, she married John Emery Farthing in Perry County, IL and he preceded her in death after 65 years of marriage on June 18, 1999. She was a homemaker and a very active member of Nine Mile Baptist Church, Tamaroa, IL where she always enjoyed assisting with the Bible Schools.

Survivors include her daughter: Alice (Glen) Drummond of Mattoon, IL, sister: Doris Poe of Mulkeytown, IL, four grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and fifteen great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter: Beulah Huffstutler, two sons-in-law: Bob Huffstutler and Bill Rodewald, three brothers: Art Gant, Wesley Gant and Curtis Gant, a granddaughter, two grandsons, three great-grandsons, and a great-great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held at Nine Mile Baptist Church, Tamaroa, IL on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend M. Shaw DeMent officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, DuQuoin, IL.

Friends may call at Nine Mile Baptist Church, Tamaroa, IL on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
