Dorothy Irene (Bramley) Norris

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Dorothy Irene (Bramley) Norris, 90, of Du Quoin, passed away at 9:25 A.M., Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

She was born October 13, 1918 at Du Quoin, IL, the daughter of Orvan and Sarah Jane (Gilliam) Bramley.

She married Albert Norris on May 3, 1938 in Jackson, MO. They spent 70 wonderful years together until his passing on January 31, 2009.

Dorothy gave her life to the Lord at an early age and began attending the Gospel Assembly Church in Du Quoin, IL in 1933. She was a faithful and dedicated member who volunteered her time as a bookkeeper, cook, nursery worker, Sunday School and Bible School director, and piano player. She also spent her early years traveling with her husband, Albert, while he pastored various churches in the area.

Dorothy once worked as a secretary at the Du Quoin Packing Company. She devoted the rest of her time to being a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, and doing crossword puzzles. Dorothy's greatest joy was the time she spent with her loved ones.

Survivors include her two daughters- Sharon Coffel and husband Jess of Du Quoin, Bonnie Westerman and husband Johnny of Kansas City, MO, one son- Mark Norris and wife Tina of Du Quoin, grandchildren- Rhonda Fleming and husband John of Du Quoin, Kevin Coffel and wife Debbie of Melbourne, FL, Traci Reynolds and husband Brandon of Du Quoin, Tifani Rhudy and husband Seth of Oneonta, AL, great grandchildren- Heather Willis and husband Brock of Du Quoin, Amber Sargent and husband Justin of Springville, AL, Brandon Coffel of St. Peters, MO, Alaina Reynolds and Emma Reynolds both of Du Quoin, Katrina O'Conner and husband Tom of Joliet, IL, and Jeremy Griffith, great great grandchildren- Katlyn Swallers, Brooklyn Willis and Addison Willis all of Du Quoin, Lydia O'Conner and Jack O'Conner, both of Joliet, IL. Dorothy is also survived by her two sisters - Thelma Bridges of Chester, IL and Esther Presswood of Du Quoin, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother in infancy.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 P.M., Friday, July 3, 2009 at the Gospel Assembly Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Dennis Fitzsimmons officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 P.M. Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and from 1:30 P.M. until time of service at the church on Friday.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
