Helen B. Lunnemann

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Helen B. Lunnemann, age 90, of Pinckneyville, passed away at 1:19p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2009 in Century Assisted Living Center, Carbondale.

Helen was born on February 3, 1919 at home in rural Pinckneyville, a daughter to Jacob and Olga (Loos) Yung. On October 25, 1941, she married Jacob H. Lunnemann with whom she celebrated 61 years of marriage until he preceded her in death in 2002. Helen enjoyed working with her husband on the family farm for many years. She was an avid gardener, quilt maker and took great pride in her homemade pies. Helen developed many friendships over the years delivering farm-fresh eggs to many people in the community. She also donated many hours organizing and cooking for funeral dinners for fellow parishioners. In Helen's spare time, she treasured occasions spent playing cards and going to dances with family and friends. Helen was a member of St. Bruno's Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America Court Ave Maria #1385, Church Women United and the Perry County Farm Bureau.

Helen has two daughters who survive: Judy (George) Backhus of Belleville, and Donna (Stanley) Fedderke of Pinckneyville. One son: James (Julie) Lunnemann preceded her in death in 2006.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Stephen Backhus of Belleville, Jennifer (Lunnemann) Robb and husband Richard of Pinckneyville, Jamie (Lunnemann) Schrader and husband Chad of Du Quoin, Christine Backhus of Belleville, Jillian Lunnemann of St. Louis, Mo., Jenea Lunnemann of St. Louis, Mo., Darren Bumann and wife Lauren of Makanda, and Jason Lunnemann of Pinckneyville, three great- grandsons: Tanner Backhus of Belleville, and James and Matthew Rob of Pinckneyville, one sister: Gladys Roberson of Ballwin, Mo. and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 10 a.m. with Father James Van Oss officiating. Helen will be laid to rest next to her husband and parents in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, on Monday from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
