Ginger K. Smith

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Ginger K. Smith, age 55, of Pinckneyville, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. in her mother's home in Pinckneyville.

Ginger was born on January 21, 1954 in Du Quoin, a daughter to Harry J. and Marie (Bird) Hutchings. On October 20, 1973, she married Mike Smith at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, and he survives. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, and worked for 17 years at TUMS in packaging. She enjoyed embroidery, family geneology, crocheting, fishing, had a deep love of animals and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Ginger had battled many cancers throughout her short life but never let it get her down and she lived everyday to the fullest and fought until the end. She was dearly loved for her strength, kindness and unique personality.

Ginger was survived by her husband: Mike Smith of Pinckneyville, mother: Marie Hutchings of Pinckneyville, son: Adrian (Daisy) Smith of Marissa, daughter: Michelle (Bryan) Hook of Marissa, four brothers: Curtis Hutchings, Scott (Patti) Hutchings, Allan Hutchings and Bob (Sarah) Hutchings, all of Pinckneyville, four sisters: Pandora (Chuck) Spangenberg of Oakdale, Sandy Hutchings of Herrin, and Deanna (Paul) Vuichard and Theresa (Jeril) Heine, all of Pinckneyville, three grandchildren: Jacob Musielak, Kaydence Hook, and Gabrielle Smith, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, father-in-law, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, grandparents: Herschel and Gladys Bird and Harlen "Harry" and Dolly Hutchings.

Funeral services will be held Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, on Friday, July 24, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Brother Tim Bauersachs officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, on Thursday from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and then on Friday from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m.
