</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Glenn Allen Thurau, 70, of Chester, IL, died July 17, 2009 at St. Ann's Healthcare Center, Chester, IL.

The son of Lester F. and Sara Ann (Hargis) Thurau, he was born June 11, 1939 in Murphysboro, IL.

Glenn was a retired switchman for GTE. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ellis Grove, and a member of the Masons and Shriners. He had been a Khoury League Baseball coach for 10 years and a counselor for Alcoholic's Anonymous for 20 years.

Survivors include three sons-Kevin (Teri) Thurau of St. Peters, MO, Randy Thurau of Sparta, IL, and Gregg (Diane) Thurau of Chester, IL; one daughter, Julie (Joey) Eggemeyer of Chester, IL; and 10 grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 20, 2009, at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, IL with Kevin Thurau officiating. Burial was in the Ellis Grove City Cemetery in Ellis Grove.
