Herschel William Bird

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Herschel William Bird, age 86, of Du Quoin, passed away July 26, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at the Fairview Nursing Center.

Herschel was born October 3, 1922 to Dewey Bird and Lillie Ridgeway in Du Quoin where he lived during his lifetime. He married Beverly Jo Krone later in life. Herschel was a construction laborer and a member of the First Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Jo. Bird of Herrin; step-daughter Judy Dunham in Ind.; brother Kenneth Bird of Du Quoin; and sister Ruby Szczeblewski of Du Quoin.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be held Tuesday, July 28 at 3 p.m. at the graveside for family members only at Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin. Rev. Gerald Wright will oversee the services.

No visitation is scheduled.
