La Jean Erwin

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[La Jean Erwin, 80, of Du Quoin, passed away at 10:45 p.m., Monday, Aug. 24, 2009 at her residence.

La Jean was a homemaker. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

She was born Feb. 16, 1929 at East St. Louis, Ill., the daughter of William F. and Carrie R. (Carter) Erdman.

She married James L. Erwin on April 26, 1947 at Flora, Ill. and he survives.

She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, one son - James Erwin, Jr. and wife Carol of Port St. Joe, Fla., two daughters - Ruth Showalter and husband Greg and Elizabeth Jill Leake and husband Tim, all of Du Quoin, six grandchildren - Lee Ann Landmann and husband Roger of Highland, Ill., Michelle Denny and husband David of Columbia, Ill., Jennifer Sanders and husband Travis of Salem, Ill., Brooke Robnett and husband Mark of Knoxville, Tenn., Shelby Leake of Du Quoin, and Carter Leake of Du Quoin, nine great grandchildren - Cole, Jack and Luke Landmann, Tyson and Morgan Sanders, Will, Sam and Caroline Denny, and Gavin Robnett, one sister - Ezula Erwin of Flora, one brother - William Frank Erdman and wife Esta of Mt. Carmel, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. John Reed officiating.

Friends called from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
