Roy L. Asbury

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Roy L. Asbury, Sr., age 79, of East Liberty, Ohio, died unexpectedly Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, at his home.

A lifetime grain and livestock farmer, he had lived in the East Liberty area since 1966. Roy was a member of the Cornhuskers Association and the Union County Draft Horses Association and was a veteran of the US Army. He was a hard working man who loved his family and enjoyed attending the Union County Old Timers Days and the local county fairs.

He was born June 28, 1930, in Perry County, Illinois to the late Ben and Nora Thompson Asbury. He was preceded in death by a son, Russell Asbury, a brother, Donald Asbury; a daughter-in-law, Kim Asbury, and a brother-in-law, Gerald Jolliff.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Rosemary Sarver Asbury, to whom he was married on Nov. 3, 1956, in Delaware; three sons, Roy (Kim) Asbury, Jr., Marysville; Rodney Asbury, East Liberty; and Rex (Belinda) Asbury, Cable; a granddaughter, Emily Asbury; two brothers, Wayne (Freida) Asbury and Fred (Terry) Asbury, both of Du Quoin, Ill.; three sisters-in-law, Opal Asbury, Du Quoin, Ill.; Linda (John) Raille, East Liberty; and Leila Jolliff, Richwood, and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Mannasmith-Schnurrenberger Funeral Home, West Mansfield. Reverend Danny Grose officiated and burial took place at East Liberty Cemetery. Friends called from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Claiborne Advent Christian Church in care of the funeral home.
