Roger Lee Macaluso

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Roger Lee Macaluso, 62, of Du Quoin, passed away at 1:15 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009 at his residence.

Roger had worked as a custodian at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale for twelve years. He was of the Protestant faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam. He was a member of Service Employees International Union Local 316.

He was born Oct. 15, 1946 at Pinckneyville, Ill,, the son of John and Dorline (Goetz) Macaluso. He married Victoria J. Short on March 4, 1972 at East St. Louis, Ill. and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, four children - Janet Macaluso and husband Richard Jr. of House Springs, Mo., Jimmie Short and wife Nikki of Cahokia, Ill., Dorline Turner of Cahokia, IL, and Sheri Little and husband Ronald L. of Seymour, Ind., one sister - Patricia Macaluso of St. Louis, Mo., two brothers - Sam Macaluso and wife Liz and James Macaluso, all of Du Quoin, and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son - Roger L. Macaluso, Jr. and one brother - Richard Macaluso.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 18, 2009 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. C.L. McKinnies officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Military graveside rites were conducted by the Du Quoin American Legion and V.F.W. and the National Guard.

Friends may make memorials to TIP Hospice or American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
