Maxine I. Hays

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Maxine I. Hays, age 76, of Tamaroa, Ill., passed away on Friday, Sept. 25, 2009 at 6:10 p.m., at her residence in Tamaroa, Ill.

Maxine was born Oct. 6, 1932 in Tamaroa, Ill., a daughter to Lawrence and Mary (Fisher) Dempsey. Maxine was married on June 8, 1951 to Harold Hays in Pinckneyville, Ill., who preceded her in death on June 21, 2007. Maxine worked for the Secretary of State as a radio dispatcher, and also worked for Maid Rite for 10 years, she also lived in Rockford for nine years where she worked as a surgical inspector and then was promoted to clerk. Maxine was a member of the Old Du Quoin Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Brian Todd Hays of Du Quoin, Ill., sister, Pauline Halstead of Du Quoin, Ill. and a brother Wilbur Dempsey of Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter, Stacy Hays and a daughter-in-law, Paula Hays, two brothers: Jess Dempsey and Harold Dempsey.

Funeral services were held at Old Du Quoin Baptist Church, Du Quoin, Ill. on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009 at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Ted Clark officiating. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Du Quoin, Ill.

Friends called at Pyatt Funeral Home, Du Quoin, Ill. on Monday, Sept. 28, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and on Tuesday at the Church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
