Betty May Jackson
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Betty May Jackson, age 81, of Pinckneyville, Ill., went to be with the Lord on Monday, Oct, 19, 2009 at 9:05 a.m. in Sparta Community Hospital, Sparta, Ill.
Betty was born on June 5, 1928 in St. Louis, Mo., a daughter to Fred and Eva May (Huggin) Thomas. On April 10, 1945, she married Leslie Eugene Jackson in Pinckneyville, Ill. and he survives. She had operated Betsy's Concessions for 47 years with her husband Gene, as well as being a homemaker. She was a member of Winkle Baptist Church, Winkle, Ill., W.M.U., Showman's League of America, Home Extension, Eastern Star and supported several different children's homes. She enjoyed painting, cooking, reading, embroidery, swimming and dearly loved spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Gene Jackson of Pinckneyville, Ill.; a son, Fred (Katha) Jackson of Arley, Ala.; a daughter, Paulette (Norm) Keene of Pinckneyville, Ill.; a brother, Bill (Pat) Hayes of Dayton, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Kendra Jackson, Keegan Jackson, Kella Jackson, Leslie (Jeff) Miller, Jacqueline Griffin, Chantelle Miller, and Jennie Hester; five great-grandchildren, Mason Miller, Zachery Hester, Jacob Miller, Jaden Miller, Noah Grace Jackson; two nieces and nephews, Bradley Hayes and Paula Morrise, and other numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held at Winkle Baptist Church, Winkle, Ill. on Friday, Oct. 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Jeff Downard officiating. Interment was in Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick, Ill.
Friends called at Winkle Baptist Church on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Winkle Baptist Church Mission Fund.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Pyatt Funeral Home in Pinckneyville, Ill.
